Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
