Emma Raducanu ends the current season and plans to retain coach for 2026.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her final two events of the year due to the illness that has affected her for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the deciding set in the match with Zhu because of back discomfort that has affected her during parts of the season.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

She secured twenty-eight matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
