Performer Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Position After Narrating Contentious Coronavirus Feature
The acclaimed actor has given his voice to a feature-length documentary that questions the efficacy of immunizations and commends one-time health official RFK Jr.
The Film's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a popular book written by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her collaborator, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone radio host the Infowars host. The producer wrote online praising Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Rebuttal
Representatives for Neeson have issued a statement pushing back against claims that he holds anti-vaccine beliefs.
"Everyone can recognize that misconduct can exist within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to opposition to vaccines," the comment explains. "Liam has never been, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His long work with Unicef underscores his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
The response continued that the actor had no hand in the project's narrative and that concerns about its claims should be directed to the producers.
Major Assertions In the Documentary
In the film, the narration read by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is featured claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- It takes aim at pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it mentions a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Context and Ongoing Disputes
The documentary further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a formal apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its official position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism. This assertion is also referenced in the documentary, despite a recent study from the WHO stating no connection has been found.
A Previous Statement of Support
Differing from the film's message, Neeson has previously expressed firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film finishes with Neeson's script stating, "This marks not the finish of our journey. This is the dawn of a different phase."
