The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Behind 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I want up in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.

Toronto's team won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
