This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – originating from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
